Diagnosis
- Bundy was known for having the following psychological symptoms: grandiose sense of self, pathological lying, conning-manipulative behaviors, lack of remorse, lack of empathy, addictive behaviors, failure to accept responsibility, and periods of depression.
- Based off of the symptoms listed above Bundy would be diagnosed as a “High Factor 1 Psychopath (HF1P)” and/or with “Manic Depressive Disorder”. This statement is supported by Dr. Al Carlisle in which he said people with HF1P live as though no social regulations apply to them, which is an accurate depiction of Bundy. As for the reason why I diagnosed Bundy as with manic depressive disorder is due to the fact that he had many stages/periods of depression throughout his life. In addition he had many episodes in which his mood frequently fluctuated which is also a symptom of this disorder. Now Bundy may indeed have different psychological disorders than listed, however, these are the psychological diagnoses that I believe to be the most reasonable.
- Based of the following explanation above I would diagnose Bundy with Manic Depressive Disorder and High Factor 1 Psychopath. Now though there are medicines today to help deal and control these disorders there has yet to be an absolute cure. As for the Manic Depressive Disorder, I would have treated Bundy with Lithium (mood stabilizer), antipsychotic medications, and anti-anxiety medications. As for High Factor 1 Psychopath studies that have been done shows that there is still no definitive treatment. However, many of the pharmaceutical approaches that they take are the same as with Manic Depressive Disorder. So as a result I would have treated Bundy with the same medical approach in both scenarios.
